Babies & Kids

babiesChildren’s classes are taught by Susan Cline Lucey, Jane Jarecki, Annette Urbschat, and Sabrina Gibson. Susan Cline Lucey, director of evolution yoga, has 20 years experience teaching yoga and creative dance to children of all ages. As the mother of 3 year old Emmett, Susan brings to class a rich, first-hand understanding of the value of yoga and movement in a child’s development. Please note that Susan is taking the spring and summer away from children’s classes in order to prepare for the birth of her child in May and to spend time with family.  She’ll be back in the fall!  Jane Jarecki completed a 6 month intensive mentorship in baby/early childhood yoga with Susan and is a certified Kripalu Yoga instructor. Annette Urbschat brings to evolution yoga 25 years experience teaching children and adults. Sabrina Gibson is certified in Radiant Child Yoga under Shakta Kaur Khalsa and is a mother of two. Susan, Jane, Annette and Sabrina share a passion for teaching and a love of children that are obvious the moment you and your child step into class. We welcome you to evolution yoga’s children’s program!

Here’s what parents are saying about the kids classes at evolution:

“Just wanted to let you know how much the kids and I enjoyed your class today. We have tried several yoga classes for kids before and they all fell short of my expectations. You are the first teacher I've encountered who not only is a qualified yoga instructor, but also has a strong grasp of what is developmentally appropriate for the kids. We are all thrilled to get to share this experience with you. Thanks!”
-Lauren, Eliza (4 ½) and Rowan (2 ½)

“Thank you for a great class! Finn had a blast and even showed his dad tree pose and down dog when he came home. He really opened up during this class.”
-Tre, mother of Finn (21 months)

Class Descriptions:

Baby Yoga (2 months to pre-crawling) is an interactive class for babies, ages 2 months to crawling, and their parents or caregivers. Through song, games, and massage, we introduce basic yoga poses and concepts. Activities increase body awareness, aid in digestion, and cultivate a more relaxed state for the baby.

New Explorers Yoga (10 – 18 months) - This class is geared toward baby explorers who are moving past a seated position. These young crawlers and walkers will delight in song, stretching, and a discovery of spaces under, over, through and around yoga poses made by themselves as well as their parent/caregiver.

Tots on the Move (18 months – 2 ½ years) – Physical play joins creativity in this toddler yoga and movement class. In addition to singing voices and stretching bodies, we will stretch imaginations as we fly and slither into new yoga worlds. Early musical rhythm is used as a tool for focusing the minds and bodies of this active age group.

Kids Creative Yoga I (2 ½ – 5 years)
and II (6 – 8 years)
Fly like a bird, roar like a lion, stand tall like a tree. Kids Creative Yoga blends yoga poses with imaginative games, storytelling and friendship-building activities. The end result: a fun, peaceful atmosphere where your child can feel confident to create and blossom. Your child will come away from kids creative yoga more relaxed, focused and expressive physically and emotionally.

Mediation and breathwork are also an important part of this class. Kids Yoga III helps build strength, coordination, focus and self-esteem for an age-group undergoing intense physical and emotional changes.
