Yoga For A Healthy Back – This six week program is designed for people with low back pain who wish to return to yoga practice or explore yoga as a method of managing their back pain. The class is taught by Janet Carscadden PT, a licensed physical therapist and certified yoga instructor, who specializes in the treatment of low back pain. Students will learn basic lumbar spine anatomy, yoga principles and modification of poses for their diagnosis. Classes will consist of development of a yoga routine that includes, breathing exercises, stretches, core strengthening, flowing poses and relaxation exercises. Pre-registration is required. The series costs $120. Enrollment will be limited to 10 participants. Postpartum Help for MomsPregnancy, labor and delivery create many changes in a woman's body, some slowly over months, and some suddenly during labor and delivery. All women who go through this amazing process change the way they use their muscle system to stabilize their trunk and hips and to transfer loads through their bodies. This series is designed to identify the non-optimal stability and movement patterns specific to postpartum women, then promote and restore ideal form and function of the low back and hips through education, exercise and changing movement patterns. Ultimately, the goal is to prevent common conditions that are often experienced by postpartum women, including low back pain, pelvic girdle pain, persistent rectus diastasis, and incontinence.
