Yoga for Women Over 40

yoga classThis is an exciting time of life for women as we go through the process of letting go of the hormones that have driven us since we were age 12 and move into a new place of power and spirit.  Come as you are and learn yoga poses and physical alignment principles to support us in this journey. The six week series will focus on opening the major joints and bone structures in the body - shoulders, hips and spine and strengthening and loosening the muscles and fascia that support these joints. We’ll be exploring opening and strengthening the mind and spirit too!

This class will help reduce bone loss, improve cardiovascular strength, build the immune system, support pelvic health and tone the body to improve overall wellbeing and health. We will also cover specific information on relieving night sweats, hot flashes, anxiety, mood swings and fatigue.

Yoga Over 40 is taught by Certified Hatha Yoga instructor Andrea O’Connor, who teaches Anusara-inspired Yoga with its alignment principles and philosophy of intrinsic goodness. Andrea began her yoga journey at age 44 when she exited a 25-year career in corporate marketing to become a yoga teacher and Gyrotonic trainer. At age 50, she considers herself in the full bloom of life, with more strength, energy and power of mind, body and spirit that she had at 20. Or 30. Or 40.

Join Andrea as she shares her experience, wisdom and love of yoga to celebrate Women Over 40. Click here to read more about Andrea and her teaching style.

Postpartum Health for Moms

Pregnancy, labor and delivery create many changes in a woman's body, some slowly over months, and some suddenly during labor and delivery.  All women who go through this amazing process change the way they use their muscle system to stabilize their trunk and hips and to transfer loads through their bodies.

This series is designed to identify the non-optimal stability and movement patterns specific to postpartum women, then promote and restore ideal form and function of the low back and hips through education, exercise and changing movement patterns.  Ultimately, the goal is to prevent common conditions that are often experienced by postpartum women, including low back pain, pelvic girdle pain, persistent rectus diastasis, and incontinence.

This 6 week series is taught by Heather Cracower, PT.  For more information about Heather, click here.
