Come as you are and open your heart… Whether you are new to yoga or have been at it for years, you’ll find the support you need to awaken your practice or recover from your injury with expert care. Kula is the Sanskrit word for community, and that is exactly what you’ll find here at Evolution.
Mission, Vision, Values, and Anti-Racism Statement
Our Mission: At Evolution Physical Therapy and Yoga we empower our community to live fully through all stages of life.
Vision: By integrating modern science and the ancient wisdom of yoga, we aim to foster healing and promote opportunities to deepen one’s understanding of self.
Values: We believe that this mission and vision should be offered with expert instruction in a safe and welcoming environment, inclusive to all.
Evolution’s Anti-Racism Statement
At Evolution, we believe that when we embrace all aspects of yoga—moving beyond just physical postures and techniques—the ancient practice has the power to transform whole communities and redefine culture.
Recognizing that we live in a culture of systemic racism and injustice, we commit to practicing anti-racism as an embodiment of yoga. We seek to nurture an environment that empowers the self-study (svadyaya) needed to understand how we’re complicit in racist structures. We aim to cultivate a community where individuals support each other in the deep work of unlearning the habits of racism* that keep us isolated and disconnected in order to evolve, together, for the liberation of all.
*Habits Of Racism, Helen NgoOur Origin Story
Evolution grew from a staff of seven, offering seventeen classes a week, with Janet as the sole physical therapist, to a staff of over thirty people, five physical therapists, and 50+ classes a week. The physical therapy practice added women’s health and pelvic floor therapy to their programs in 2010. Evolution grew so much that in 2015, Evolution Prenatal Yoga and Family Center was created, and Susan became the sole owner of her own business. Following the pandemic Evolution Prenatal and Family Center became Grow Prenatal and Family Center and moved just down the road to 696 Pine St. In 2015 Evolution realized its dream of being at the forefront of therapeutic yoga education and started to offer training programs to healthcare professionals, to integrate the ancient practice of yoga, into medicine. Evolution also built two yoga walls in one of our studios, and added yoga walls to our physical therapy rooms, in order to integrate therapeutic yoga into our treatment programs and classes. We invite you to visit the studio and our physical therapy practice to experience a different kind of healthcare, and a welcoming yoga community.
