Do you like to sing? Are you looking for a different group singing experience? This group singing workshop is open to all levels of experience. Circlesinging* is easy to learn and has endless possibilities since the melodies are all made up ‘in the moment’. It is a joyful way to sing together as a community without having to know how to read music. There are no mistakes!! You will be lead in group singing and also taught different aspects of how to create an improvised ‘song’ to give singers who want to lead an opportunity to do so. There will be no pressure to lead if you don’t feel ready!
*this name is ascribed to the singer Bobby McFerrin, although ‘singing in a circle’ is ancient and found in many oral traditions.

Jody Albright is a jazz/blues vocalist and voice instructor who has been performing and teaching since the late 1980’s. One of the reasons she is drawn to these two art forms is because improvisation is at the heart of both. Jody recently had the opportunity to attend a Circlesinging workshop at Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, NY led by Bobby McFerrin. The workshop has inspired Jody to want to share the experience of Circlesinging with her Vermont community.
