Livestream – Begin Again New Year’s Flow with Rachel de Simone (Recording Available)
A new year presents an opportunity to begin again. In the past year, many of us learned to find joy in unexpected places, a connection in isolation, and resilience in the face of great challenges. As we begin the next cycle, let us start with intention. May we take this opportunity to strengthen our connections to each other, and to sow the seeds of deep self-care so that we are grounded and open to all that 2021 brings.
This New Year’s Day practice will include meditation, pranayama, and asana to uplift and strengthen the spirit, and will end with abhyanga (Ayurvedic self-massage). Abhyanga strengthens the body’s constitution, maintains the digestive fire, stimulates the lymphatic system, bolsters the spirit, and harmonizes the flow of prana (life force energy). You will need 2 – 3 ounces of massage oil (untoasted sesame oil is great for winter, or another neutral oil such as jojoba, almond, sunflower, or coconut oil), an old towel that you don’t mind getting oily, and slippers or shoes to put on after so you don’t slide. Wear clothing that will provide access to the skin on your arms and legs for the abhyanga.
When: Jan 1, 9 – 10:30 am with Rachel de Simon
